Axis, in conjunction with Shiels Obletz Johnsen, Inc. (SOJ), is currently working as the construction manager for the MarketFront project in downtown Seattle. This high-profile project at the world-famous Pike Place Market will feature 40 units of low income senior housing, a 38,000-square-foot public plaza with Puget Sound views, 15,000 square feet of retail space, and approximately 300 parking stalls. Axis is overseeing the construction process, which requires handling complex components such as constructing over the existing BNSF railway tunnel and working in an extremely tight urban site. The $72 million project is funded through multiple public and private sources. Axis’ involvement in this endeavor began with the design phase in 2013. Now under construction, MarketFront is scheduled to be completed in December 2016.
